An Amazing Tropical Grass

Cymbopogon Flexuosus is the botanical name for species of Lemongrass from Western India that is used to make Essential Oil.  Lemongrass has long been an important part of the traditional Indian Medicine known as Ayurvedic.  This amazing oil is both cooling and stimulating to the body as well as the mind.  It has powerful antibacterial and analgesic properties (pain relieving) which makes it a useful remedy for bruised muscles and ligament tissue that has suffered trauma.  Lemongrass has the ability to also support the digestion as well as helping to regenerate connective tissues and ligaments.  It dilates the blood vessels and strengthens vascular walls.  Another great thing about Lemongrass is that it has the ability to promote lymph flow, creating proper fluid motion and it will reduce inflammation.  Lemongrass has anti-fungal properties.  Many use Lemongrass to help promote psychic awareness and purification, it can create the innocent perspective of a child while helping to express great wisdom.  When used with Myrrh, it will promote growth and positive changes both spiritually and physically.

A wonderful furniture polish that is effective and completely non-toxic to both people and animals is to blend 3 Tablespoon of apricot seed oil and about 10 drops of Lemongrass Essential Oil together

A green, non-toxic insect repellent recipe is to blend 4 drops each of Lemongrass, Cedarwood and Geranium Essential Oils together in 1 ounce of vodka which can then be sprayed liberally throughout the home or office without damaging furniture or plants.

The fresh, ciruslike fragrance of Lemongrass Essential Oil can dispel stale air such as cigarette smoke, pet odors and unpleasant kitchen scents.  Try combining with Essential Oil of Lime, Lemon and Tangerine for a clean, crisp aroma that will improve and invigorate the air quality in any room.

TAKE CARE!  Because of its high citral content, Essential Oil of Lemongrass may increase the skin's sensitivity to sunlight.  Avoid being in the sun for about 6 hours after using Lemongrass on the skin.  If you have been diagnoised with glaucoma DO NOT use this oil at all.
